Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device — computer, phone, or tablet — when you visit. They allow the site to remember things about your visit, such as your preferred language or whether you’ve seen a notice before.

Cookies are not programs, and they cannot execute code or deliver malware. They are simply data files. Some cookies last only as long as your browser session and are deleted when you close the tab. Others are stored on your device for a set period or until you clear them manually.

Under the UK GDPR and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), we are required to tell you which cookies we use, why we use them, and to obtain your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device.

How we use cookies

Pocket Money Adventures CIC uses cookies for the following purposes:

To make the website work. Some cookies are strictly necessary for core website functionality. Without them, you would not be able to navigate the site properly or use features like the pre-order form or the school registration request.

To remember your preferences. If you have previously dismissed a notice or made a selection, a functional cookie may store that preference so we do not repeat it on every visit.

To understand how the site is used. We may use analytics cookies to count how many people visit each page, how long they stay, and what they click on. This information is used in aggregate form only — it never identifies individual visitors. It helps us improve the website so that schools, parents, and sponsors can find what they need quickly.

We do not use cookies for advertising, retargeting, or behavioural profiling. PMA is a Community Interest Company. We do not sell advertising space or pass visitor data to third-party advertising networks.

Third-party cookies

Some features of this website rely on third-party services. These services may set their own cookies independently of PMA. We have no direct control over third-party cookies, but we list them below so you know what to expect.

Google Fonts

We load the Chelsea Market, Onest, and Poppins typefaces from Google Fonts. When your browser requests a font file, Google may log your IP address and browser agent. Google states it does not use this data for advertising. For more information, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

WordPress (pocketmoneyadventures.co.uk)

The main PMA website runs on WordPress. WordPress may set cookies related to logged-in users, comment sessions, and plugin functionality. These are detailed in the Automattic Privacy Policy. If you are not logged in to a WordPress account, WordPress typically sets only a session cookie used for anti-spam purposes.

Payment processors

If you complete a purchase through our pre-order or sponsorship process, the payment provider may set cookies related to fraud detection and transaction authentication. These are strictly necessary for the transaction and are governed by the payment provider’s own privacy policy, which will be linked at the point of purchase.

Email service providers

If you subscribe to PMA updates, your email address is processed by our email service provider. That provider may use a tracking pixel — a small invisible image — to record whether an email has been opened. You can disable this by turning off automatic image loading in your email client.

A note on children’s data

PMA’s website is directed at parents, teachers, and schools — not directly at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 via the website. If you believe a child has submitted personal information to us, please contact hello@pocketmoneyadventures.co.uk and we will delete it promptly.

Your choices

You have the right to decide which non-essential cookies you accept. When you first visit this website, a cookie consent notice gives you the choice to accept or decline functional and analytics cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are always active because the site cannot function without them.

You can change your preferences at any time by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site, which will re-show the consent notice. You can also use your browser settings to block or delete cookies entirely — see the section below.

Under the UK GDPR, you also have the following rights in relation to any personal data we hold about you:

Right of access. You can ask us what personal data we hold about you.
Right to erasure. You can ask us to delete personal data we hold about you.
Right to object. You can object to certain types of processing.
Right to complain. You can raise a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@pocketmoneyadventures.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features to the website or if regulations change. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was most recently revised.

If we make significant changes that affect your rights, we will place a notice on the website homepage for a reasonable period following the update. Continued use of the website after the notice period constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
